Product Details

Acetylene black, a high-purity form of carbon black, can be derived from either calcium carbide or the pyrolysis byproduct gas obtained from naphtha (crude gasoline) refining. The process involves decomposing acetylene gas at temperatures exceeding 800℃, with the aim of achieving a refined product that surpasses 99% purity. The exothermic nature of the reaction facilitates automatic thermal decomposition, and to maintain a consistent mass, the reaction temperature needs to be maintained at approximately 1800℃. Control over the furnace temperature is achieved through the water cooling jacket surrounding the reactor's outer cylinder.
Acetylene black finds application as an anode material in nickel metal hydride batteries, complemented by oxidation barriers and electrolytes. It exhibits superior electrical conductivity and liquid absorption compared to furnace carbon black, owing to its enhanced crystallization and secondary structure. Furthermore, its low impurity levels, including heavy metals, minimize self-discharge, making it particularly suitable for use in the cathodes of nickel metal hydride batteries.
Supercapacitors utilize acetylene black as an efficient electrical conductor.
